Ridgemont Highlands’ triple G1 winning sire Jackson has been in good form of late, with his progeny winning all over South Africa, and the son of Dynasty was at it again over the weekend, with Jackson responsible for three more winners.

His 3yo daughter Miss Jacksonville provided Jackson with his first win of the weekend, when the Danika Stud bred filly won over 1600m at Fairview on Friday.
One of four winners on the day for trainer Alan Greeff, Miss Jacksonville has now won twice, and been placed a further three times, from her last six starts.

Jackson enjoyed further success on the Turffontein inside track the following day when his Mike de Kock trained 3yo son Flycatcher shed his maiden over 1600m. Under jockey Callan Murray, the Jackson gelding stayed on smartly to score by a length, with the Highlands bred sophomore having now won or placed in three of only four starts.

Out of the Trippi mare Nemesia, Flycatcher was a R350 000 buy from the 2018 Cape Premier Yearling Sale.

The former G1 Investec Cape Derby winner, and former National 2YO Sale topper, ended the weekend on a high note when his son Baby Shooz justified favouritism to win at Hollywoodbets Greyville on Sunday. Trained, like his sire, by Brett Crawford, the Wicklow Stud bred colt powered clear to shed his maiden by over 3 lengths, while scoring over 1600 metres.

One of the best sons of the much missed Dynasty, and from the same family as Smart Strike, Jackson is also the sire of one of South Africa’s most exciting 3yo fillies around in the form of recent G2 Western Cape Fillies Championship second Pretty Young Thing – a winner of three of only seven starts and a likely contender for the upcoming G1 Cape Fillies Guineas.
