Run Fox Run Shows Considerable Class

Top-class five-year-old Run Fox Run showed her considerable class when making much of the running to land a competitive looking Pinnacle Stakes on the Kenilworth winter course on Saturday for Ridgemont Highlands and Crawford Racing.

Despite not having raced since July, Run Fox Run, an Australian bred mare, was all the rage for Saturday’s Pinnacle Stakes (1100m) eventually let go a hot 8-10 tote favourite, despite facing some talented opponents.

Anton Marcus let Run Fox Run settle in front, with the favourite disputing favouritism with last season’s G3 Cape Classic winner Silver Operator (25-1) and the every speedy Icon Princess (25-1).

Run Fox Run kept going, and when asked for the question, the top-class sprinter went away to register a cosy three-parts of a length win over Icon Princess, with the latter benefiting from the 2.5kgs claim of inform apprentice Joshwin Solomons and running a bold race in second. Silver Operator made a pleasing return to the track after a lengthy layoff and running over a trip short of his best, with apprentice ridden Southeaster Sprint hero Elusive Trader flying up to finish fourth.

Run Fox Run, who claimed Saturday’s race in a time of 64.63, provided owners Ridgemont Highlands, trainer Brett Crawford and jockey Anton Marcus with a second win on the card, with the combination also tasting success with Silver Saber in the first race.

Bred by Mill Park Stud, Run Fox Run took her tally of wins to seven, from just nine starts, and the daughter of Foxwedge looks on course for another bright season.

Runner up in the G1 South African Fillies Sprint on her previous start, when just beaten by champion Celtic Sea, Run Fox Run’s previous wins include the 2019 G2 World Sports Betting Southern Cross Stakes and Olympic Duel Stakes.
