Well-bred three-year-old filly Full Velocity made an eye-catching winning debut over 1000m on Thursday, while scoring by three-parts of a length for trainer Sean Tarry and jockey Lyle Hewitson.

The filly, a daughter of Drakenstein Stud’s deceased Kris S horse Philanthropist, ran on nicely over the closing stages of Thursday’s Interbet.Co.Za-0861 150 160 Maiden Plate (1000m) to down male rivals Qunetra and Break The Silence by three parts of a length and one a quarter length respectively.

Bred by Klawervlei Stud, Full Velocity is the first winner produced by the two time winning Sebring mare Circle Of Speed.

The latter, trained like her daughter by Sean Tarry, is, in turn, a half-sister to G1 Computaform Sprint winning sire Rafeef (Redoute’s Choice) as well as the latter’s champion own brother, and G1 SA Nursery hero, Mustaaqeem, while Circle Of Speed herself is a daughter of triple G1 winner, and South African Horse Of The Year, National Colour.

Full Velocity’s speedy relative Rafeef made headlines with his first yearlings earlier this year – Rafeef had a colt make R2 200 000 at January’s Cape Premier Yearling Sale, while Rafeef had colts fetch R700 000 and R600 000 respectively at this year’s Emperors Palace National Yearling Sale.
