Despite 29 less rides over the duration of the competition, Anton Marcus is 82 points behind leader Warren Kennedy in the KZN Sizzling Summer Challenge with seven meetings left.

Marcus has seven rides versus Kennedy’s six at today’s rescheduled from Hollywoodbets Scottsville to Hollywoodbets Greyville meeting and he will be looking to build on his fine form after booting home three winners at Kenilworth yesterday.

All three Marcus Saturday winners were gun-to-tape efforts as he gave the locals a demonstration of confidence and pace judgement.

Two of Marcus’ winners were bred by Ridgemont Highlands for Ridgemont Racing.

Eric Sands saddled their Tapit filly Still Tappin. Having earned at all four of her starts, she continues to strengthen and went all the way in the mile to shed her maiden and was a popular winner in the Pick 6 opener. She should be even more effective over further.

Ridgemont’s next winner was the Jackson filly Water Spirit  – a ringer for her Dad- who won the MR 94 Handicap. She has won 3 from 9 and Marcus suggests she could be effective up to 2000.

The two Ridgemont winners were punctuated by another Marcus strike on the Captain Al colt Al’s My Daddy, this time for the Cape Fillies Guineas winning combination of Adam Marcus and Mario Ferreira.

The Klawervlei bred Al’s My Daddy is a half-brother to Joey Ramsden Cape Fillies Guineas winner Just Sensual.

Today at Hollywoodbets Greyville, Marcus’ best two opportunities look to be Macallan for Alyson Wright in the second and the widely drawn Yogas Govender saddled Bayview Express in the last.

Both should go very close.
