The Ridgemont Highlands’ based Canford Cliffs was responsible for a debut winner in Australia on Monday.

His three-year-old daughter Ooroo made a winning debut when scoring at Mornington on Monday for trainer Logan Mcgill and apprentice Campbell Rawiller.

Out of the God’s Own mare We Own An Angel, Ooroo dug down deep to score a neck win on debut, having finished five lengths back in barrier trial on her only previous start.

Ooroo was one of two winners for Canford Cliffs at Mornington on Monday, with the sire’s son Mr Canford Man romping home to a facile two length maiden win when saluting over 2045 metres.

A five time G1 winner, and group winner at Royal Ascot at two, three and four, Canford Cliffs is currently the sire of more than 30 stakes horses, with his notable progeny including such group winners as Al Jazi, Painted Cliffs, Most Beautiful, Princess Posh, La Falaise, and millionaire Cliff’s Edge.

From just a handful of runners in South Africa, Canford Cliffs has already left behind the likes of G3 Three Troikas Stakes heroine Fish River and World Sports Betting East Cape Derby hero Dorset Noble.
