Cliffs Strikes In Hong Kong

Canford Cliffs continues to churn out winners all over the world, and the son of Tagula enjoyed more success at Sha Tin on Sunday.

His gelded son Silver Express powered home to lift Sunday’s R6.5m Chevalier Cup (1600m) for trainer John Size and jockey Vagner Borges.

Borges produced his mount at the right time, with Silver Express staying on gamely to lift the Chevalier Cup by a length and a quarter.

Bred in Australia, five-year-old Silver Express who is out of the Elvstroem mare Rechichi, was winning for a second time, from seven starts, in Hong Kong.

Winner of five G1 races in a row, and a group winner at Royal Ascot three years running, Canford Cliffs is set to be represented by members of his first South African crop shortly.

With winners in 30 individual countries, including 100% winners to runners in South Africa via his imported runners, his locally bred two-year-old son Cliff Top and daughter Crionna have both been entered for a maiden juvenile plate on December 10th.
