Canford Cliffs Filly Justifies Favouritism To Score

Ridgemont Highlands’ inform stallion Canford Cliffs came up with yet another eye catching winner from his first South African bred and born crop of two-year-olds, when his daughter Whatyouwaitingfor won in open compay at the Vaal on Tuesday.

Owned by Ridgemont, Whatyouwaitingfor was all the rage for Tuesday’s Play Soccer 6,10 and 13 Maiden Plate (1200m), with the filly having finished fourth, to subsequent G3 Pretty Polly Stakes victress Galla Vanting, on her only previous start.

Under Anton Marcus, the Sean Tarry trained filly more than lived up to her tote favouritism status with a professional display in Tuesday’s sprint.
Whatyouwaitingfor was always prominent in running, and when Marcus asked the question, the filly pulled out more to win convincingly by three lengths.

Bred by the Narrow Creek Stud, Whatyouwaitingfor was a R90 000 buy from the 2021 Cape Yearling Sale.

She is the seventh winner to have emerged from the first South African crop of two-year-olds by Canford Cliffs, with this crop also including Listed City Of Cape Town Summer Juvenile/Listed East Cape Nursery winner Cliff Top.
